12th-18th February is celebrated as the ‘National Productivity Week’ every year. The theme chosen for this year is “From Waste to Profits-through Reduce, Recycle and Reuse”. Assam Gas Company Limited also observed this week in a most befitting manner . During this week Various competition like Art/ slogan and poster making were held among the employees and children of AGCL employees. Posters and Banners in align with the theme are highlighted in the prominent places of AGCL Campus for mass campaign and awareness. On 18th Feb 2017 an Interactive seminar was held in the premises of AGCL where Chairman of Assam Productivity Council, Mr. B.P Bakshi was invited as Guest Speaker. The Meeting was chaired by Shri Kunal Mazumdar, DGM (O&M),along with Shri Surjya Tamuli ,DGM(TS) and Chief Manager(HR&A).
A power point presentation was presented by Mrs Mayurima Goswami Baruah, Manager (Systems) and Shri Gourav Konwar, LDA(HR&A) on the theme “From Waste to Profits-through Reduce, Recycle and Reuse”. They also beautifully highlighted the CSR Project “Shyamolima” an inhouse project on waste management which is very much relevant to this year’s productivity’s Theme. Shri B.P Bakshi, Chairman of Assam Productivity Council, in his key note, addressed the gatherings on 3Rs i.e. Reduce, Recycle & Reuse for waste management and also stressed on the growing concerned of air water and land waste. It was an inspiring speech delivered by Guest Speaker that left a strong message for everyone. Lastly Guest Speaker was very much impressed on the initiative taken by AGCL on the waste management and appreciated management of AGCL for the same.
The seminar was followed by prize distribution to all the winners of various competition held in celebration of National productivity week 2017. Lastly Vote of thanks was delivered by Shri Gaurov Konwar, LDA(HR&A).
After the Seminar Shri B.P Bakshi, Chairman of Assam Productivity Council visited the site of “Project Shyamolima” and was very much delighted to witness the entire process of the biodegradable waste disposal and recycle mechanism which converts into organic manure.
